Modern Elizabethan Practise Design

Modern Elizabethan Practise Design

My first design idea

I practised my first design idea on Aine.

I started off with crimping the hair to create the thick Elizabethan textured hair.
Then i section of the hair creating a padding for a quiff at the front of the hair. I wanted the quiff to be a mix between an Elizabethan big padded hair and a high fashioned quiff. What made it Elizabethan was the texture and also the height, however to modernise it i sectioned off a thinner piece to create the quiff with which made it look more modern. Also another factor that made it Elizabethan was the curls as they were not brushed out and were right similar to Elizabeths hair. However at the same time i left some of the hair just crimped and brushed out which gave it a rocker edge to the hair look. I was pleased with the outcome as it showed clear contrast between modern and Elizabethan hairstyles however the padding needs to be improved as it was not even on both sides. Another factor that can be improved is the fact that it is too simple. For example adding jewels to the middle of the hair would make it stand out more.
