Elizabethan Historical, shapes and structure examples
We looked at recreating traditional Elizabethan hairstyles mainly looking at shapes and textures. A common Elizabethan hairstyle will include heart shaped padding on each side of the head with jewels in the hair with a curly/frizzy texture.
After crimping the hair and frizzing a few strands from the front I secured the padding into the french plait and put the hair over which created a big shape on her head.
For the back i twisted the hair and wrapped it over the pins, again securing it.
I found creating shapes difficult because I struggled keeping both sides of the hair symmetrical however with practise and a good use of parting with a comb it became more similar to each other.
The heart shape. Queen Elizabeth wore the heart shaped hairstyle a lot which decades later is still being adapted by famous fashion designers in catwalks.
